As part of my learning outcomes I created, designed, and implemented a reading club that occurs for 1 hour every Friday. My schedule also leaves time for discussion past the hour. With the help of library staff and volunteers, we put on our creative hats and created this fun advertisement for the reading club that starts January 19th. When thinking of the theme for the reading club, I thought to include topics of social justice such as LGBT issues.

Title: Boy Erased by Garrard Conely (2017)

First day of reading club brought in a diverse group of individuals ranging from native English speakers and multilingual (Korean/English) speakers. To share the enjoyment of reading each person took a turn reading a paragraph. Throughout the reading, some members needed clarification of what was happening in the book. My handy-dandy Korean/English translator helped those members by translating to them in Korean. We also took moments to reflect on the readings with open discussion on LGBT issues in Korea, the United States, and other parts of the world.

오늘 마주친 한 구절 ~ A verse I met today After each reading session, members come together and pick one verse they read that deeply resonated. The verse is then posted to the library website, social networking sites, and glass bulletin board that is located on the first floor (1F).
